From Jessie Hislop:

I don't if any or all of you had previously found the entry in the Christiana emigrants' register on the Norwegian digitalarchivet: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe for Morton Rasmussen's family leaving Norwary. It seems like the oldest sons had left earlier and I haven't really found them yet--I couldn't find an Amund at all and there are two possibilities below for Hans. I also found interesting was that their fares were paid in America--presumably by Hans & Amund or where there other relatives ?

1845--From web site: "100 years of Emigrant Ships from Norway"

"The brig PrFciosa departed from Kragerr on about July 4th with 94 passengers and a load of iron (1194½ Skpnd.) for New York. She arrived at New York on August 20th or 21st, 45 days after leaving Norway. The passenger list is dated August 22nd. She was mastered by Capt. Krog. The voyage is mentioned in an old letter (A04890) that is held by the Norwegian Emigration Museum at Hamar. The writer tells that they bought their passage from Consul "Briern" in Kragerr.

The voyage is also mentioned in "A Family History" by Selma S. Casberg, printed by Crescent Printing Co., Inc., 1416 Caledonia, LaCrosse, WI 54601: "Torger Nilsen Revoldsrud, his wife, and eight children emigrated on the PrFciosa, and landed in New York on August 21, 1845, 45 days after leaving Norway. The ship carried some iron and 94 steerage passengers. The captain of the ship was named Krug." From New York the PrFciosa left for Madeira with a load of planks, corn and flour.

Naeseth Vol 3, page 229.

lists "Marit Pedersdatter Lillelien" born Dec 21, 1831. says father used the name "Wesley" in America.

Some of St.Lukes records list her name as Vestli or Vestle-perhaps a corruption of Wesley. This is from Jessie Hislop:
"Is it that you think there are two wives because of Marit Pedersdatter and Marit Vestlie & Marit Wesley are all named ? I would think they are all the same person. I've found that the Norwegians were very flexible on 'surnames' in the U.S. (my great-grandmother Karen Torgersdatter used Rokvam, Lien, Lier interchangably). Marit probably gave up at a certain point spelling Vestlie and went for Wesley (given how Norwegians say W to them it was probably the same and the anglos were writing it Wesley.... By the way the other thing I notice is that Marit was born at Lillelien (theoretically little Lie farm) and then used Vestlie (West Lie as the name). It would be worthwhile to get a map of Ostre Gausdal and see where Lillelien lies as I suspect it's in the west part of the parish and it might have been known both as Lillelien and as Vestlie and this distinguished it from Lie (where Rasmus Torgerson lived). By the by, I understand Lie means slope and I can assure you that it was apt for the Lie farm itself and very common because it's such a hilly (or 'lumpy' as my cousin described it) country.
