Herbison McLain
,  81 died in the town of Dayton, February 23, 1909. He was born in Londondery , Ireland, March 20, 1828 and at the age of 19 came alone to America and settled at Troy, New York for three years and in 1850 came to Wisconsin to Waupaca. On December 25, 1856 he married Mary Ann Button. To this union nine children were born. Four are deceased. He is survived by his widow and four sons, Joseph, William, and Chas. Of Dayton and George of Waupaca, also one daughter, Mrs. A. L. Nourse of Newport, Wash. Buried at Cedar Lake cemetery.

Herbison McLain, one of the earliest settlers of this section, passed away at his home in the town of Dayton at 1:30 o'clock on Tuesday, Feb 23, at the advanced age of 81 years. He was born in Londandery, Ireland, on Mar. 20, 1828, and at the age of 19 years came to America alone to make a future and a fortune in this land of promise. He settled first at Troy, N. Y. and three years later, in 1850, he came to Wisconsin and settled in what was almost a wilderness and laid the foundation for a home. On Dec. 25, 1856, he was married to Mary Ann Button and nine children was the fruit of this union; four having preceded their father to the world beyond. He is survived by his widow and four sons, Joseph, William and Chas. of Dayton, and George of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. A. L. Nourse of Newport, Wash. The funeral will be held from the family home in the town of Dayton, Sunday at one o'clock, Rev. Webster Millar officiating with internment in the Cedar Lake cemetery.

Joseph Barker died at Fisk, Wisconsin on March 5, 1909. He was born in Yorkshire, England on December 10,1841 and came to Wisconsin and settled in Lind in May 1855. In 1863 he enlisted in the 10th Wisconsin Vol. Inf. And served until the end of the war. He married Miss Elizabeth Button October 1869. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Fred E. of Fisk and Frank E. of Hancock, Wisconsin, and four grandchildren and one brother, Jas. W. of Lind and one sister, Sarah J.Billings of Oklahoma. Buried in the Mumbrue cemetery now known as Cedar Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Joseph Barker died at Fisk, Wis., March 5, 1909. He was born in Yorkshire, Eng., Dec. 10, 1841, and came to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Lind, May, 1855. N 1863 he enlisted in the 10th Wis. Vol. Inf. And served to the close of the war. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Button, Oct., 1869. His wife, two sons, Fred E. of Fisk, and Frank E. of Hancock, Wis., four grandchildren, one brother, Jas. W., of Lind, and one sister, Sarah J. Billings of Oklahoma survive him. His body was brought to this city from Fisk and the funeral services were held in the M. E. church at one o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. Webster Millar officiating. Internment was made at the Mumbrue cemetery.

James A. Button Died Wednesday January 16, 1895. He was 32 years of age. He leaves a wife and two children. The funeral was held at the house in Cedar Lake Friday at 2 p.m. He was a member of the Pine River Masonic Lodge and was buried by that order. A number from this city attended the funeral. Geo. James, W.M. of  Waupaca Lodge, conducted the funeral.

Mrs. Mary E. Mumbrue was born in the town of Ripley, Chautanqua county, New York, July 16, 1845, and was the daughter of Charles and Emily Palmer Wilcox. She came wit her parents to Waupaca county in 1855 and lived on the old homestead in the town of Waupaca until her marriage to Vernon A. Mumbrue, Dec. 25, 1866 when they moved to their home on section 18 town of Lind, where she had resided continuously until the time of her death, March 22, 1923.Her husband passed away Nov. 28, 1905, and a son, May 19, 1913. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. H. D. Bemis, of Lind, and three grandchildren; also three brothers, Winthrop A. of  Alhambra, Cal., Rev. S. E. Wilcox of Des Moines, Iowa, and Charles A. of Weyauwega. Deceased was a kind and loving mother and neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The remains were laid to rest in the Cedar Lake cemetery beside those of her husband, Saturday, March 24, 1923

Mrs. Edna Nickel    1959 Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Nickel, 70 Waupaca, were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bammel Funeral Home where Rev. Charles Langdon officiated. Burial was in Cedar Lake cemetery. She was a member of the First Methodist church at Waupaca. She died March 19 at Riverside hospital. She had been ill for three months. Mrs. Nickel was born in the town of Lind on Feb. 6, 1889. She was married to Walter Nickel on Aug. 22, 1907 in the town of Lind. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Allen, Rt. 2, Waupaca, Edson, Rt. 2, Hortonville, and Elmer, Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ethyl Miles, San Francisco; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

MRS. HOBSON DIED - She Was Among the Pioneer Settlers of This Section
Sarah  1909 Mrs. Hobson, widow of the late Walter Hobson, died in a hospital at Genessee, Idaho, on Friday, Nov. 5, following a stroke of apoplexy, from which she suffered for two weeks previous to her death. She was a native of Keneshire, Eng. And was 66 years of age. She was among the pioneer settlers of this section, coming here in an early day. She went west in July last year for a visit with her step-children. The remains were brought to this city, Wednesday and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Hobson, at Cedar Lake, from which place the funeral was held on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Webster Millar of the M. E. church of this city officiating. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Hobson, and her son, Harry Padgham Lyons, both children by her first husband, George Padgham, and the following step-children: Mrs. Emma
Shirrod, Geneese, Idaho; George Hobson , Jr., Palmer, Idaho; Miss Clara Hobson, Plainfield and Wilbur Hobson, who resides on the old homestead at Cedar Lake.

James Emerson  1910
James Emerson, another old pioneer, passed away October 1- at the home of Eliza A. McMurtey
at an advanced age of over 80. The funeral was held Monday evening at 5 o'clock services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Miller. The remains were taken to their last resting place at Cedar Lake. He leaves one son, Geo. A. Emerson, of Calloway, Minn. no marker

Mrs. Anna Marchant, wife of George Marchant, died at her home in the town of Lind on Monday, April 11 at the age of 76 years. She was a native of England and has been a resident of this section for many years. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Geo. Faulks, living on Rt. 3, Kit and Jane and one son, Charles A. all at home. The funeral was held from the family home on Wednesday, with internment in Cedar Lake cemetery.     no marker

Mrs. Anna Marchant no marker Wife of Geo. Marchant, died at her house in Lind April 11, 1910 at the age of 76 years a native of England. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Geo. Faulks, Route 3, Kit& Jane and one son, Charles A. all at home. Buried in Cedar Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Eva McGovern died November 9, 1906 a sister of Mrs. H. McLean of Dayton, aged 54 years, died in Chicago. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. McLean and Mrs. J. Barker of Fisk Corners, Wis. Buried Cedar Lake cemetery. Rev. Webster Millar officiated. nee Evaline Button.

Mrs. Ann Emerson died May 29, 1907, the remains were brought here from Merrill. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jas. Fisher, aged 87 years. Her husband Edward Emerson preceded her in death fourteen years ago. They were early pioneers in this place, coming here from New York in 1855. She leaves four daughters; Mrs. Jno. Rice and Mrs. Jas. Fisher of Merrill; Mrs. Geo. Dambruch of Appleton; Mrs. Jno. Edwards of  Junction City, Colo. Rev. Webster Miller officiated. Buried Cedar Lake cemetery.

Robert James McLean died at his home in Dayton January 22, 1898 at the age of 39 years. He leaves a wife and three year old son, Guy. The funeral was held at Cedar Lake School house.

Mrs. George Fair died at the home of her daughter on Nov. 23, 1920, at 9:00 p.m. after an illness of several years. Harriet D. Nourse, daughter of Nathan and Lyrena Nourse, was born in the town of Saxeville, Waushara county on Oct 6, 1874, where her childhood days were spent. The deceased went to Belvidere, Ill, where she was married on May 25, 1897 to George A. Fair of that city. To this union seven children were born. Two children having preceded their mother to a home in heaven. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, five children and one grandchild. The children are Lyrena, (Mrs. Gilbert Larsen); Geo., Dorothy, Donald and Russell. Besides her husband and children, she leaves her father, age ninety-nine years, and several brothers and sisters. She was a loving wife and mother and her sweet disposition won many friends who will deeply mourn her loss. Deceased has been gradually failing since an operation at Waupaca a year ago. No doubt her life has been greatly prolonged by the plucky fight she made for existence. The funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 26, from the Cedar Lake school house, Rev. Coon of this city officiating. She was laid to rest in the Cedar Lake cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barker Passes Away at Fisk
Mrs. Elizabeth Barker died at her home in Fisk on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the age of sixty-five years. She was born in England in 1845 and came to this country when but a little girl and settled with her parents on a farm in Cedar Lake. In 1869 she was married to Joseph Barker, who preceded her to the other side about two years ago. For the past thirty years she has resided at Fisk where she was prominent in the work of the Royal Neighbors and had a large circle of friends who will mourn with her family. Two sons survive, Fred Barker of Fisk and Frank Barker of Hancock, but for several years a resident of this city; also two sisters, Mrs. H. McLean, Cedar Lake, and Mrs. Ella Nelson, Baker City Ore. A short funeral service was held at the family residence and the remains were brought to this city and taken to the home of the deceased's sister, Mrs. H. McLean, at Cedar Lake where a funeral service was conducted by Rev. Webster Millar, with internment in the family lot at Cedar Lake.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barker,  65 died November 26, 1910 at the home of Fisk. She was born  in England in 1845 and came as a little girl and settled at Cedar Lake. In 1869 she married Joseph Barker who died tow years ago. Survivors include: two sons, Fred Barker of Fisk; and Frank Barker of Hancock; two sisters, Mrs. H. McLean, Cedar Lake and Mrs. Ella Nelson, Baker City Ore. Buried at Cedar Lake cemetery.

On Sunday at the home of Vern Mumbrue in Cedar Lake, occurred the death of Mary Ellen Mumbrue, aged sixty years. Deceased was born in Fremont, moving to Cedar Lake to the family home, where she has since resided. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the home. Rev. Martin of Parfreyville officiating, internment being at the Cedar Lake cemetery. 1913

At the home of Mrs. Henry Bemis of this city on Monday morning at three o'clock occurred the death of Leon Mumbrue, aged forty years, eight months, twenty-one days, son of Mrs. Vernon Mumbrue of Lind. The deceased was sick only about forty-eight hours with lead poisoning. He leaves to mourn his sudden death, his mother, Mrs. Vernon Mumbrue, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Bemis. The funeral services were conducted at his home in Lind today at 1 p.m., Rev Martin of Parfreyville officiating. Internment took place at the Cedar Lake cemetery.
