This cemetery is located on the south side of Highway 22, about 5 miles west of Bear Creek and Highway 45. In 1855 Welcome Hyde encouraged 15 German families to locate in this area. This brought the Raislers, Schoepkes, Thielkes, Klemms, Scharnows, Schroeders and others. Today, in 2006 these names are found on the tombstones of Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Trinity Lutheran Church and School were established by 1857, and along with that the need of a cemetery. One of the first burials was of Maria E. Roesler on November 19, 1857 at the age of 46 years, 9 months and 26 days. At that time there was a log church, which was replaced several times, until the present church was built across the road in the 1960s.

Nicholson was a thriving community before the turn of the century, with saw mills, a post office, grocery store, cheese factory and other commercial enterprises.

Today, nothing is left but farms, the church and memories of the people who are buried at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Nicholson.
