PERSONAL MENTION

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bovee and daughter Phyllis spent Sunday and Monday in Bowler.

Frank Bohman spent the weekend at Tigerton with his con Gaylord and relatives

Miss Marjorie Glass spent a few days of this week with friends at Milwaukee.

Gust Knutson of Iola visited Wednesday with his daughter, Mrs. R.W. Parfit and family.

Otto Boelter and Melvin Taylor attended the basketball game at New London Friday evening.

M. Bovee returned fore-part of the week to New London after spending some time in this city with his children.

Mrs. Brewer, Clyde Bovee, Viola Fillnow and Frank Mcntyre motored to Oshkosh Sunday where they visited with Ione Brewer at the Mercy hospital.

Miss Elsie Knitt returned to her home Sunday evening after undergoing an operation for appendicitis at Green Bay. She is well on the road to recovery.

Mrs. E. C. Nelson and daughter of Long View, Wash., are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Dilley. Mrs. Nelson was formerly Sadie Dilley.

Mrs. Will Wega is enjoying a two weeks vacation from her duties as pianist from the Grand theatre while it is being remodeled.

Mrs. Celia Hamilton returned to this city. Monday evening after spending the past six weeks with her daughter and family at Wittenberg.

BEAR CREEK HAPPENINGS

Gordon Richardson and Joe McClone were home from Clintonville to spend the weekend.

Fred Gabrielson, Arthur Olesen and P.C. Battes went to Clintonville Monday morning.

L.A. Mares, who is employed at New London, spent Sunday with is family in the town of Bear Creek.

W. Tate of the village and Richard Schoepke of the town of Bear Creek left for Madison Monday to attend the Annual Road school.

Peder P. Due is reported quite ill at this writing.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tietz of the town of Bear Creek visited at the Mrs. Minnie Owen home Monday.

Miss Hazel Thebo is spending some time with her sister, Mrs. Geo. Moder at Hortonville.

MRS. EMILY BROWN OBSERVED HER NINETY-SIXTH BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY, WITH A FEW FRIENDS AT HER HOME THURSDAY AFTERNOON.  MRS. BROWN CAME FROM JOHNSBURG, NEW YORK, TO FREMONT, 63 YEARS AGO, 24 YEARS BEFORE THE VILLAGE WAS INCORPORATED AND WHEN THERE WAS LITTLE CLEARED LAND IN THIS VICINITY, POOR CROOKED DIRT ROADS THROUGH THE WOODS, AND INDIANS CAMPED AT THE RED-BANKS AND THE CUT-OFF, PRESENT RESORTS ON THE WOLF RIVER.  MRS. BROWN HAS TWO LIVING CHILDREN, WILLIAM BROWN OF OMRO AN MRS. EMMA BILLINGTON OF FREMONT.  MRS. BROWN TAKES CARE OF A HOME, ABOUT 50 CHICKENS AND WORKS A GARDEN.  SHE ATTRIBUTES HER LONGEVITY OF LIFE TO REGULAR EXERCISE, FRESH AIR AND A DETERMINATION TO LIVE.

IN ADDITION TO HER DAUGHTER, MRS. EMMA BILLINGTON, SHE HAS ONE SON WILLIAM BROWN WHO LIVES AT CHIPPEWA FALLS DESPITE HER AGE MRS. BROWN IS ENJOYING FAIRLY GOOD HEALTH AND IS ABLE TO GET ABOUT SOME AND STILL VISITS WITH NEIGHBORS.  HER MIND IS KEEN AND ALERT AND HER MEMORY IS WELL PRESERVED, EVENTS IN THE EARLY PART OF HER LIFE BEING RECALLED VIVIDLY.
