BLIND PIGS RAIDED - Soft Drink Venders Come to Grief at Iola

John Sather and John Burkart of Eau Claire were in the city today.  During the last few days they have been investigating the blind pig situation at Iola and as a result three keepers of such alleged resorts were arrested.  They have been running temperance saloons at Iola and have had a big run on malt masse, hop ale, etc., beverages put out by the John Kirth Co. of Columbus, Wis.  When analyzed by Professor Culver of the normal chemical department, these “soft drinks” were found to contain 4 per cent alcohol or one per cent more than ordinary beer.  It would take only a few glasses of this stuff to make a man feel like climbing a tree.  The keepers who were arrested were Tom Thompson, Otto Beck and Martin Benson.  They will have their hearing next week at Waupaca.   - Stevens Point Journal.
