P. N. Peterson and John Skoglund called to see Oliver Olfson Sunday.

B. John and John M. Niven attended the K. P. party at Waupaca Monday evening.

Miss Edna Allen visited at Geo. Hutchinson's Saturday.

Andrew and John Erricson were Sheridan callers last week.

Mrs. D. McGregor and daughters, Belle and Janette, are visiting at C. Johnson's.

Rob Niven is home from Waupaca High School for a vacation.

Miss Jessie Niven is home from Casimer, where she is teaching, for two weeks vacation.

Frank Dean and family spent Christmas with Mrs. Dean's parents, Mrs. and Mrs. J. Niven.

Mrs. Laura Hatch has resigned her position as teacher in the Sheridan school.

Manawa

Ed Darling and family spent Christmas with friends at Rhinelander.

Fred Dent went to Tigerton Wednesday.

Mrs. R. Wells visited her son, Miles at Dexterville.

Mr. and Mrs. Dalke went to Nashkora to spend the holidays.

Miss May Shroader came from her school in the north to spend her vacation with her parents.

Aunt Kate Vaughn returned from a visit with her son, Edgar Vaughn and family at Welcom, Wis.

Miss M. O'Neil, a former teacher of this place, now of Antigo, is visiting her friends here this week.

Miss Luella Binkerman of Marion visited her friend, Miss Higgins last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Louie Richards have been quite sick with la grippe.

Asylum Brick

Weyauwega, Wis., Feb. 5 - The brick for the new county insane asylum to be built here will be made on the grounds, a bed of fine clay having been discovered. The brick yard may be made a permanent institution. Albert K. Rich of Waupaca will be manager of the asylum.

Miss Florence Rounds left here Tuesday morning for an extended visit with friends in Chicago.

Albert Rounds spent last week with friends in Oshkosh and Eureka.

Aunt Jane Ritchie is having a tussle with la grippe.

Miss Lena Rohm has returned from a visit with friends at Seymour and is now helping her brother in the store.

Prof. Stanley was absent from his post of duty on account of sickness.

Arthur Lindsay is home from Green Bay business college on account of the grippe.

A little girl of F. C. Andrews is quite sick.

Fred Dent has gone in the woods, and Mrs. F. Dent has gone to Green Bay to spend the winter.

Evan Vaughan has received notice that his pension has been increased from $12 to $17 per month.

Mrs. Bailey of Waupaca was the guest of Mrs. Ida Saffard last week.

Dayton

Mr. and Mrs. Truit will soon retire from active work and move to Waupaca where they expect to reside permanently. Their many warm friends will be sorry to loss them as neighbors but wish them every happiness.

J. A. Robbins and wife visited Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Green on Tuesday last.

Will Robertson is now the owner of another fine thoroughbred cow having purchased it at Royalton last Friday.

Chas. Darling, the pump man, has established himself in business at Wild Rose and will in the future, make his home in that village.

The new railroad and free mail delivery cause considerable excitement among our farmers, many estimating great things in the enhanced value of property. It has not as yet been ascertained where the new railway station for this village will be located.

Harrison

All men with exception of two, at Wright & Lashua's logging camp are laying off this week with grippe. One man was very painfully hurt by a log rolling on his foot.

Ed Rice went to Oshkosh Thursday of last week to undergo an operation for appendicitis, Mrs. Rice accompanying him.

Frank Lashua, formerly of this place but now of Mosinee, sustained the loss by fire of his house and contents last Thursday morning. The fire was burning furiously before it was discovered and Mr. and Mrs. Truman Lashua, who were boarding with Frank Lashua, barely escaped with what clothes they had on, no other articles belonging to them begin saved. Truman, in attempting to save some of his belongings was quite severely burned on one hand. The house burned to the ground. No insurance was carried.

C. D. Holman of Dayton, spent a few days of last week at the logging camp of Ira Cannaday.

Manawa

Miss Lettia Jameson visited friends in Ogdensburg recently.

Albert Shaw came home from the woods sick with grippe.

George Stevens is hauling stone for the new creamery.

A little child of Mr. and Mrs. Will Garry's is very sick with inflammation of the bowels.

F. Rossey is moving in the Woodnorth's house.

Marqus came home from the woods Tuesday he is having la grippe.

Edgar Vaughn of Welcome was in town recently.

Aunt Jane Ritchie who has been quite sick is much better.

Mr. Rohm has moved into the house recently vacated by F. C. Andrews.

MANAWA

Two children of Frank Budd near Ogdensburg is sick with scarlet fever.

E. L. Darling and Oscar Allen is in Waupaca serving as jurors.

Jim Garry is laid up with a sore hand caused by a felon.

T. H. Hanna was in this village Monday and Tuesday of this week looking up the case of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dent. Some sensational development is looked for when the case is called.

Frank Corcoran was in Green Bay recently to visit his brother Louis.

Lute Vaughn came home from the woods Saturday.

Howard the little son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Avery who has been very sick the past week is some better.

Mrs. DeSharm who has been very sick is on the gain.

HARRISON

Wm. Clough lost a horse last week.

John McKay will move his family to Iola as soon as he is through at Weimann's mill. They will spend the summer there while he goes west to locate.

Frank Manney has bought a farm of A. Weimann. It was formerly known as the Geo. Lashua place. Mr. and Mrs. Manney are a most estimable young couple and we are glad to welcome them in our neighborhood.

So far this month has been a genuine old fashioned March, rain, snow, hail, freeze, thaw and sunshine all in the same day.

WEYAUWEGA

From the Chronicle-

The Wolf River was reported to have been about five feet above the normal level at New London last week, and the city was partly flooded.

Geo. Rohrbscherm, who resided on a farm near Waupaca, will go to the Northern Hospital at Oshkosh next Monday, to under go treatment for a few weeks.

O. D. Sanders broke ground for  his new store building Saturday. This building will adjoin Exchange Block on the west side. Its dimensions are 70X20 feet, two stories high. It will be built of red brick.

Mrs. Emma Woodward will again visit Weyauwega next Tuesday, April 9, as a professional optician. She is meeting with good success here, as everyone whom she treats expresses. She will be at Hotel Hutchinson from noon till 3:30 p.m. Please call early.

The Baldwin Creamery Co. Skimming Station near Manawa will hereafter be run in connection the Ogdensburg Creamery recently purchased of which they took possession April 1st.

Miscellaneous

Clarence Guthu of Helvetia and Miss Erdmann of Little Wolf will go to Shaw, Mich., the last of this week where they will have charge of the cooking department of a saw mill plant. Miss Erdmann has a sister there whose husband is foreman of the plant.

Mrs. E. M. Shuman, formerly of Fremont, came up Wednesday to see her sister, Mrs. C. P. Ward, before starting for the west. Her husband left last wee with a car of things for Faulkton, South Dakota, and Mrs. Shuman and the balance of the family will take the limited Thursday night expecting to arrive in Faulkton Saturday.

The town of Waupaca voted $25 toward the Waupaca City public library, which contribution entitles any resident of the town to all the privileges of the library the same as people in the city. Other nearby towns should avail themselves of the same library benefits. In that way an immense public library center could soon be established in this city.

Paul Anderson will go to Weyauwega this week to assist in making brick at the county asylum.

Miss Jeanette McGregor of Hancock was a guest of Miss Laura Hatch Thursday and Friday of this week.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Minton, transacted business in Waupaca on Friday.

Herbert and Chester Tarr were callers on Hill Street on Wednesday.

Ellsworth Ault called at Mr. Saxton's on Saturday.

S. Bates and Chas. Testen sawed wood for G. M. Suydam last week.

Hans Oleson transacted business in Belmont on Wednesday.

George Bowers was a caller on our street on Sunday.

Miss Carrie Robertson is home from the Stevens Point Normal.
