State Census - First day of June 1855

State of Wisconsin - Waupaca County - Town of Caledonia

Enumerated by  Jacob Whitaere, Town Clerk

Transcribed January 2003 for the Waupaca County Genealogy website

by Darleen and John Chipman and proof read by Paula Vaughan.

All census are transcribed as written by the census taker and read by the transcriber and proof reader.

Please remember a transcription is just that-if it is spelled wrong or phonetically on the census it is transcribed that way.

The 1855 census was extremely difficult to transcribe and proof read. The 1855 census was transcribed by using two different microfilm and copies. Added difficulties came from misspellings of the census taker along with the microfilming of the census. When this census was originally microfilmed some of the first names or initials were cut off, as a result of these problems, many township census will have multiple question marks.
