Tom Martin, age 65, 902 Bartlett Street, Waupaca, died on Monday Nov 3 [1980] at 1:01 pm at St Elizabeth=s Hospital in Appleton.

A self-employed painter, Mr. Martin was born on Feb 1, 1915 in the Town of Nepeuskum, Winnebago County the son of James and Tillie Schmidt Martin. He was married Feb 28, 1938 in Shawano to Sally Peterson, who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Shirley (LaVern) Cady, Tigerton and Mrs. Darlene (Allen) Anderson, Tigerton; two brothers, Orville, New London, and Morris of Clintonville; a sister, Miss Vivian Martin of New London; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Nov 7, at 1pm at the Holly Funeral Home , Waupaca, with Rev Barry Shaw, Pastor, United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Big Falls Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Orville Roehl, Roger Fietzer, Karl Schuelke, Lyle Cady, Raymond Ziehl and Lee Poehlman.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9pm on Thursday at the Holly Funeral Home

Mrs. Sadie Ruppenthal, age 72 of Big Falls, died suddenly at her home Saturday, September 13 [1980].

The former Sadie A Krohn, she was born June 4, 1908, in the town of Wyoming, Waupaca County, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Louise Krohn.  She was married to Art A Adams on September 2, 1927, in the town of Wyoming.  They owned and operated Adams IGA Store in Big Falls for 13 years.  Mr. Adams preceded her in death in November 1961.  In June 1964 she married Clarence Ruppenthal in the town of Dupont.  She has lived all of her life in the Big Falls area.  She was a member of St Peter=s Lutheran Church, Big Falls, and was a charter member of the church ALCW.

Survivors include her husband Clarence; one son, Kermit Adams of Marion; four daughters, Mrs. William (Marvel) Buccholz of Wheaton, MN, Mrs. Roy (Burnetta) Tischhauser of Appleton, Mrs. David (Sharon) Bostwick of Brown Deer, Mrs. John (Peggy) Pockat of Shell Lake; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey Krohn of Antigo, Ervin Krohn, Route 1 of Marion, Cecil Krohn of Big Falls; one sister, Mrs. Cora Russart of Sussex.  One brother preceded her in death.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2pm at St Peter=s Lutheran Church, Big Falls. With the Reverend William R Lavann.  Burial will be in the Big Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9pm today and on Tuesday from 8:30am until noon at the Rhodes and Bell Funeral Home in Marion.

Debra Lynn Knaup, age 18 of Route 1, Iola, died Saturday at Wausau Hospital North as a result of injuries suffered in a one car accident in Marathon County on July 24 [1975].

The Marathon County Sheriff=s Department said Mrs. Knaup was injured when the car she was driving went out of control when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer on highway 40 about a mile south of Highway 29 in the town of Eldren, Marathon County.   The car went into a ditch and struck a large rock on the drivers side.  Miss Knaup was thrown from the car.  Two passengers in the car were also injured.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Tuesday at St Peter=s Lutheran Church, Big Falls.  The Rev Leonard A Domke will officiate.  Burial will be in Big Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4pm today at the Voie Funeral Home, Iola.

Miss Knaup was born October 26, 1957, in Iola.  She lived in the town of Harrison, Waupaca County and graduated from Rosholt High School last spring.  She was a student at the Mercy Medical Center School of Nursing, Oshkosh.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Knaup, Route 1, Iola; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Byersdorf, Big Falls; and one brother, Dennis Knaup, Route 1, Iola.

Funeral services for LaVern Knaup, 45, Iola, who died Friday morning at St Michael Hospital after a prolonged illness, will be held at 10:30am Monday at St Peter
's Lutheran Church in Big Falls with Rev Leonard A Domke officiating.  Burial will follow at Big Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Voie Funeral Home, Iola.

Mr. Knaup was born Nov 7, 1930, in Iola, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Knaup.  He was married July 24, 1954, to Margaret Beyersdorf in Big Falls and worked as a mechanic at Bake-Rite Bakery, Plover.

Survivors include his wife; a son Dennis of Iola; and a sister, Mrs. Edwin [Loretta] Matson of Los Angeles, California.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a brother.

Amelia Elsie (Elsa E) Schuelke died March 6, 1901, of whooping cough, aged 8 months and 11 days, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schuelke.  She leaves a father, mother, and three brothers.  Buried in Big Falls.

Milo VanBuren Hungerford, age 64, died December 3, 1953 at his farm home at Ogdensburg.  He was born on July 7, 1889 in Hancock.  Survivors include his widow; 12 children; William of Washington; Julia of Indiana; Ralph of Menasha; Milo, Jr, Marilyn and Richard of Kaukauna; Elmer, Jerome, Stanley, Arnold and Donald at home and Gordon, stationed with the array in Georgia; four sisters, Margaret Berzill (twin) of Waupaca; Etta (Mrs. Artie Morgan) of Ripon; Lillian (Mrs. William Heidaman) of Chicago; and Ida (Mrs. Pat McHugh) of Oshkosh; and three brothers, Arthur of Michigan; E Jay and Benjamin of Oshkosh.  Funeral services were held at the Swenson Funeral Home in Iola.  Rev E W Quam of Our Savior=s Lutheran Church, Iola, officiated and burial was in Big Falls Cemetery.  The six eldest sons were pallbearers.

Glen McNinch died June 15, 1905 at the home of his brother John McNinch.  He died of consumption, he was a young man of 19.  He leaves to mourn an aged father of 81 years, three sisters and four brothers.  Buried in Big Falls Cemetery.

Levi Close died January 14, 1903, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Close of Granite City, age 13 years, 10 months and 22 days.  He leaves a father, mother, six brothers and three sisters.  Buried Big Falls Cemetery.

Walter Behrent, age 84 route 1, Iola, died Friday afternoon [June1974] at the Iola Hospital. In failing health the last year, he had been hospitalized 10 days.  Mr. Behrent was a lifelong resident of the town of Wyoming, Waupaca County, and farmed there for many years. Born May 6,1890, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Behrent. Mr. Behrent, who was single, is survived by a brother, Henry of Iola, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2pm at St Peter's Lutheran Church, Big Falls, with the Rev Leonard A Domke officiating and burial will follow in Big Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3pm Sunday at the Coie Funeral.

Alma Much
Alma Emma Much, age 87, of Ogdensburg, passed away Monday, September 26, 2005, at Pine Manor Healthcare Center, Clintonville.  She was born September 2, 1918, in the Town of Union, Waupaca Co. daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Price) Krueger.  On January 27, 1937, she married Fred W. Much at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, South Dupont.  He preceded her in death October 28, 1980.  They farmed in the Town of Union for two years.  They then purchased a farm in the Town of Union where she had lived until becoming a resident of Pine Manor Health Care Center in February of this year.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Big Falls.  She had worked at Hanson’s Glove Factory in Clintonville.  Alma’s hobbies included gardening, sewing, crocheting and rug weaving.  She is survived by her children: Severna Roe, Clintonville; Gene Much, Clintonville; Vern (Phyllis) Much, Marion; Bill (Judith) Much, Marion; Ray (Judy) Much, Manawa; Audrey (Greg) Rohde, Clintonville; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a brother, Ervin (Mary) Krueger, Ogdensburg; a brother-in-law, Arthur Klepps, Neenah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, a grandchild, three sisters and two brothers.  The funeral service for Alma will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2005, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Big Falls with Rev. Janice M. Kuder officiating. Burial will be in the Big Falls Cemetery. The Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa is assisting the family with arrangements.

MRS. FRED MUCH SR.

Mrs. Fred Much Sr. [the former Amalia Lucht] died at the home of her son George in the town of Union Monday morning [Oct. 13th, 1919] following a stroke of paralysis.  Mrs. Much was born in Germany Sept. 16th, 1853 and has been a resident of Union the past thirty years.  Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by eight sons and three daughters, Herman, Henry, Louis, Paul, George and Robert of the town of Union; William of Wausau and Fred of Oshkosh: Mrs. Elmer Christianson of Union, Mrs. Carl Spoo of Oshkosh and Mrs. Carl Tellock of Fremont.  Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Big Falls church.

Lillie Erickson
Lillie E.L. Erickson, age 91, of the Homme Home of Wittenberg, formerly of 210 W. Garfield Avenue (Camelot Apartments), Marion, died early Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2001 at the Homme Home.  Lillie was born on March 30, 1910 in the Township of Wyoming, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late William and Marie (Fremke) Schmidt.  Lillie grew up in the Clintonville area where she graduated from Clintonville High School in 1929.  She married Lloyd Huffcutt and the couple moved to Chicago, IL.  Later in life Lillie married Einar Erickson.  The couple resided in Chicago until Einar's death.  In 1972 Lillie moved back to Clintonville before moving to Marion in the Camelot Apartments where she enjoyed playing cards with her friends.  She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marion and volunteered occasionally at the Marion Senior Center.  Survivors include: her son, Lloyd (Peggy) Huffcutt, Ingleside, IL; many nieces and nephews including Irene Spieth who cared for Lillie until her death; one special Godchild, Wayne Peterson, Elmwood Park, IL; many other family members.  Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands (Lloyd and Einar), 3 brothers (Herman, Rudolph and. Louis), and 5 sisters (Annie, Lydia, Marie, Emma, and Sophia).  Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Marion.  Rev. Roger Tellock officiated.  Internment was in the Big Falls Cemetery in Big Falls.  The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Marion, assisted the family with arrangements.

Louise Schmidt
Louise Schmidt, 98, died Friday morning, January 18, 1985, at the Iola Hospital.  Mrs. Schmidt was born July 24, 1886, in the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Julius and Dorothea Splittgerber.  She married Herman C. Schmidt January 6, 1915 at Clintonville and they farmed in the Town of Wyoming, Waupaca County until 1943.  From 1943 to 1957 they lived in Oak Park, Illinois. In 1957, upon Mr. Schmidt’s retirement, they moved to New London.  He died June 28, 1967.  Mrs. Schmidt entered the Iola Nursing Home in 1982.  Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. John (Doris) Brockhaus, Shabbona, Ill., Mrs. Carl (Verna) Much, Route 1, Marion, Mrs. Milton (Cordella “Toby”) Aasen, Iola; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 21, 1985 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Donald L. Gauerke officiating.  Internment will be in the spring in Big Falls Cemetery.  The Voie Funeral Home, Iola, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

Louis Schmidt
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 17, 1968 at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Marion for Louis Schmidt, 71, Tigerton, Rt. 2, who died Monday as a result of injuries suffered Sunday when he was struck by an automobile in the village of Big Falls.  The Rev. Milton B. Leisman officiated with burial in the Big Falls Cemetery.  Mr. Schmidt was born October 31, 1896, at Big Falls, the son of the late Mr. And Mrs. William Schmidt.  He never married and was employed as a farm laborer.  Survivors include on brother, Rudolph Schmidt, Marion; two sisters, Lydia, Mrs. Ernest Jahsman, Symco and Lilly Erickson of Oak Park, Illinois.  Also many nieces and nephews.

Herman Schmidt
Herman C. Schmidt, 408 W. Jennings St., New London, 77, passed away Wednesday evening, June 28, 1967, at the New London Community Hospital.  He was born April 9, 1890 in Poland, Russia, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidt.  He came to the U.S. at the age of 2 years.  His marriage to Louise Splittgerber took place Jan. 6, 1915, at Clintonville.  Mr. Schmidt spent 29 years as a farmer in the Town of Wyoming where he served on the town board and the county board for 18 years.  In1943 he moved to Oak Park, Ill., and after his retirement they resided in the city of New London.  He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. John (Doris) Brockhaus, Shabbona, Ill., Mrs. George (Mildred) Klotzbuecher, Weyauwega, Mrs. Carl (Verna) Much, Route 1, Marion, Mrs. Milton (Cordella) Aasen, Bensenville, Ill.; two brothers, Rudolph, Marion, Louie, Big Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Lydia) Jahsman, Symco, Lillie Erickson, Chicago; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls with the Rev. Richard Schroeder officiating.  Interment was in the Parish cemetery, Big Falls.  The Borchard & Moder Funeral Home, New London, was in charge of arrangements.
