Transcribed by Paula Vaughan October 2010

To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Waupaca County Insane Asylum:

I herewith present my thirty-third annual report of the medical and surgical department for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1935.

The general health of our people has been fully up to the average. We have had no epidemics during the year and only a few cases of serious ailment. Surgery has been unimportant, consisting of only cuts and bruises, There is at all times more or less physical impairment resulting from or accompanying the mental condition which require attention.

Sanitary and hygienic conditions have been maintained in excellent condition. Food has been ample, well prepared and adjusted to the needs of the patients. Music and entertainments have been provided and everything possible to make the place a real home for the patients ha been done.

All details have been well cared for by the Superintendent and Matron and I have no recommendations to make at this time.

The mortality list is as follows:

Name Age Date Cause of death
John Quinn 62 8-31-34 Myocarditis
Amelia Lohff 62 8-7-34 Chronic nephritis
Isaac Stephenson 87 9-1-34 Pneumonia
George Wyatt 92 9-15-34 Acute dilatation of heart
Lizzie Carey 64 9-24-34 Sudden heart failure
Chas. A. Wilcox 79 9-26-34 Exhaustion of dementia
Tom Carson 78 12-30-34 Exhaustion of dementia
Betsy Nordby 79 4-17-35 Paralytic Stroke
Adolph Chick 69 6-6-35 Suicide

It will be observed that the deaths were all among people of advanced age, the average being seventy-four and two-thirds years.

In closing I wish to thank your Honorable Board, Superintendent, Matron and attendants for the co-operation which you have always given me.

Respectfully submitted,
E.H. JONES, Physician
