Gertrude Skochil

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning for Mrs. Gertrude Skochil, who died in St. Mary’s Hospital her Monday morning following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Monico for the past 71 years.

The Rev. John Spanjers will officiate at the 10 a.m. services to be held in St. James Catholic Church, Monico. Burial will be in the Monico Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hildebrand Funeral Home here after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Recitation of the rosary is set for 7 o’clock Wednesday evening.

Mrs. Skochil was born December 16, 1885 in Appleton. She moved to Monico from Three Lakes. Mrs. Skochil, for many years a member of the school board in Monico, married John Skochil November 29, 1906 in Monico. She was a member of the St. James Altar Society.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cyril (Gertrude) Fink of Pacoima, Calif. and Mrs. Francis (Marie) Huber of Monico; four sons, Joseph, Gagen, and Edward, Richard and Lawrence all of Rhinelander; one brother, Jake Crossman of Monico; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, James, both in 1949, and by a grandson.
